I absolutely adore reading - my love for books has had a huge impact on my life! I'm going to grad school to be a children's/YA librarian.
I start grad school at the end of this month, so this is my last chance to reeeeeeally read like I like to before my life gets totally hectic. I'll be going to school full time, I'll have an internship, and I'll be working part-time - so my schedule is going to be CRAZY and will probably leave very little room for pleasure reading, unfortunately. But I'm going to try my best to read as much as I can in the next few weeks! We'll see what happens :)
Anna Karenina - if you follow my book reviews regularly, then you've probably picked up the fact that this is one of my favorite books of all time. I'm re-reading it again because my book club's reading it and I'm reading the discussion. I want to finish it this month, even though we'll probably be reading it until around Halloween, because I don't know how much time I'll have to read it once grad school starts.
A Game of Thrones - this was my first read for August and I actually just finished it! I loved it and I definitely recommend reading it if you're a fan of fantasy. Read my review here.
The Fountainhead - another book club book that I'm prepping for. I'm a bit nervous to read this one and the next one on my August list - I think they're going to be pretty challenging and maybe a bit dry, but I'm hoping I'm wrong, at least about the dry part. We'll see!
The Stranger - book club book, again. Nervous about this one, but hopefully it will surprise me!
Taking Lives - annnnnd it's another book club book! This one sounds creepy, but I'm watching Dexter right now so I'm more interested in it than I would usually be, haha. I was actually supposed to read this last week, but I was too busy reading To Kill a Mockingbird :P
Vampire Academy - so, last month, I wanted to read Bloodlines as part of my US of YA reading challenge. I started the book, and promptly found out that it's the beginning of a spin-off series to this series. So now I'm giving this one a try!
Dragonfly in Amber - I am soooo excited to read this one! It's the sequel to Outlander, and if it's as good as that was, then I'm in for a real treat!
Bridget Jones' Diary - I have been curious about this book ever since the movie came out and my mom told me that I was not to see it under ANY circumstances (granted, I was 8 years old at the time and it probably would not have been appropriate for me to watch...). Well, I'm now 22 and I still have not read the book or seen the movie and I can't wait to read this next week with my book club!
Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone - re-reading this with my book club! I adore the Harry Potter series and it has been entirely too long since I've read them. I can't wait to pick this up again!
The Fog - I know nothing about this, but the title looks creepy and it was added to my book club's list by my friend Tina Rae (her booklikes site is here - go follow her!) and she really likes creepy horror novels, which totally freak me out a lot of the time, so I'm just a bit nervous about reading this, haha. But I'll give it a try!
There are a few others that I'd like to read this month, such as Persuasion by Jane Austen, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes, but school starts in like 2.5 weeks and then I know my reading time is going to really take a hit, so I'm trying not to be too unrealistic in my goals.
What do you plan to read this month? Have you read any of the books on my list?
