Bookworm Blurbs

I absolutely adore reading - my love for books has had a huge impact on my life! I'm going to grad school to be a children's/YA librarian.

For Authors/Publishers

As of August 2014, I have started graduate school and thus cannot devote as much time as I'd like to to reading. As a result, I'm not accepting very many ARCs at the moment - I think it's more important that I focus on my studies and only read books for school or for pleasure, since my time is so limited. If you REALLY want me to review your book, please read on and send me an email, but be warned - as much as I appreciate your consideration, I may have to turn you down for now.

Welcome to my booklikes site! I'm Kara, and I primarily use this site to write reviews of books that I read. If you've reached this page, you're probably an author or a publisher who's looking for someone to review a book. Most of the books I read are chosen by either me or the book club that I'm in, but I recently started reviewing books "officially." I don't know if I would qualify myself as a professional reviewer as I have never been trained in reviewing and I have never received any form of monetary payment for my reviews. However, I do consider my reviews to be thoughtful and intelligent, and since starting in October 2013, I have reviewed several books at the request of various publishers.

If you have a book that you would like me to review, I would be more than happy to help out, as long as you're willing to send me a copy, whether it's in the form of a PDF or Kindle file, or even a traditional hardcover/paperback book. Please understand that I write honest reviews - if I loved your book, I will shower it with praises. If there are things that I don't like about it, I will express my feelings about those aspects, too, although I will do my best to be professional and polite, rather than attacking your work. I'm going to school to be a librarian, so the purpose of my reviews are to help readers find a book that best suits their interests, not to help sell copies or market books.

Depending on the length of the book, how many books I have to read in addition to your book, and how busy my life is at any given time, it will typically take me anywhere from a week to three weeks to read your book after receiving it. I usually write reviews immediately after reading books. I post all of my reviews on this site and I post a link to them on my Twitter account, but if you would like me to post elsewhere, please let me know and I will be happy to do so. Most publishers and authors ask me to post on Amazon and Barnes and Noble's websites. I have also been asked to post on goodreads - I am not a huge fan of that platform, but if you would like me to post a review there, just let me know and I will. If there are any other sites where you'd like me to post a review, again, just let me know where to go and I'll be happy to do so. If you've requested a review from me, I will contact you via email once the review has been posted so you know where to find it.

If you think that you'd like a review from a person who wants to help readers, please feel free to contact me at bookwormblurbs@gmail.com. I'm also happy to be a beta reader if you need an extra set of eyes on a manuscript that you're currently working on - I have a good eye for detail beyond simple mechanical issues, although I'm pretty knowledgeable about those, too. I look forward to hearing from you!
