Bookworm Blurbs

My name is Kara, welcome to my book blog! I'm a twenty-three-year-old book blogger / library enthusiast who loves to talk about her love for books. I recently graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where I studied library science with a concentration in children and youth services. I also have a BA in History, which I obtained from a small state school in Pennsylvania. Professionally, I work as a circulation clerk at a local library where I interned during grad school. It's only a part time position, but it allows me to be a stay-at-home mom while still cultivating my professional skills.

In my life outside of the world of books, I'm happy married to my wonderful husband, Dan. He's an accountant and has very little interest in reading, but he's pretty awesome anyway :) we've been married since June 2014, but dated for 5 years before that, so he's been a major part of my life for a long time now. We had our first daughter, Olivia, on June 1, 2015 - clearly, our first year of marriage was full of joy! We're really looking forward to what the future holds for our little family!

I'm also the eldest of six children. I love my family more than just about anything (and yes, that does extend to books)! My mom is the one who first introduced me to reading - she used to stay home and read to me all day, starting with nursery rhymes and gradually moving on to fairy tales and eventually chapter books. Although she read with all of the rest of my siblings, I was the one who really embraced reading. My youngest sister's a big bookworm, too, but I think that if she pursues anything that has anything to do with books, she's going to become a writer. For being only fifteen, she's pretty amazing!

In addition to reading, I love being an active member of my church. We go to a Catholic church only three blocks away from where we live, and there's a fantastic young adult ministry that Dan and I have gotten involved with. It's really helped us make friends in our new home and build our faith. By the way, I don't talk about my religious beliefs on here very often, but if you're ever interested in having a chat about them, please feel free to send me a private message! I also have a slight addiction to Netflix - I'm a total TV show junkie! I usually don't have time to watch the shows when they're actually on TV, but believe me, I definitely make up for missing the shows when they originally air thanks to Netflix!
