I absolutely adore reading - my love for books has had a huge impact on my life! I'm going to grad school to be a children's/YA librarian.

Reading progress update: I've read 47 out of 282 pages.

Wild Card - Jamie Wyman

47 pages into this, and I'm hooked. I was intrigued by the description of the book, but I definitely was not expecting it to be this good. Wyman's protagonist, Cat, is tough, snarky, and confident, and her narration is both eloquent and crass. As you may have picked up, I'm not usually a fan of excessive profanity in books, but Wyman's somehow figured out a way to make it work in this one. She's created a fascinating world, one that resembles ours but includes mythological deities that most of the mere mortals don't realize exist, and she manages to create both her setting and the plot without info-dumping. I could go on, but I won't - I want to save some stuff for my actual review, after all!

This book is was published last week, and if I were you, I'd go out and get a copy. Considering the fact that I'm not even a quarter of the way through the book yet and I'm already telling you that, you know it's a good one.
