I absolutely adore reading - my love for books has had a huge impact on my life! I'm going to grad school to be a children's/YA librarian.
I loved this book! I read it for my book club - I probably never would have heard of it, if not for that, and I'm so glad I was introduced to it. After reading Rebecca (also thanks to book club), I had very high expectations for this book - and they were completely fulfilled.
Jamaica Inn grabbed my attention right from the start. It's filled with suspense, wonderfully written characters like a spunky heroine, an evil uncle, and a mysterious love interest, and action. I thought I'd figured out the mystery, but the ending had a twist that I never saw coming.
I recommend this book to any Daphne du Maurier fan, any mystery/suspense lover, and anyone who just wants something new and different. I don't think there are any books out there that begin to compare to Jamaica Inn. Once again, I was wowed by du Maurier's writing prowess - she is one of those wonderful authors who can pick the perfect words for any situation, seemingly effortlessly. I'm really glad I read this, and I will definitely be re-reading it in the future.
